Floricane is growing, and we’re looking for a new team member who will add energy, diversity and talent to our small team. We're currently looking to hire a full-time Project Coordinator who knows how to schedule and coordinate; take in-the-moment notes and transform them into clearly written reports; and connect with clients from all walks of life. Starting salary for this position is $32,000 a year.

The deadline to apply is October 23, 2019. Instructions for your application are posted below the job description.

Project Coordinator

Full-time, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with exceptions for client meetings)

We’ve had a busy 2019, and we’re looking for someone who can help us keep our ducks, and our projects, in a row. (We don’t actually have any real ducks.) Your unofficial job title would be project coordinator. We’ll probably just call you by your first name.

You like to do things right the first time, and you learn to anticipate things before they happen – either because they happen a lot and you pay attention, or because you are a precog. When you say you’ll take care of something, we know you’ve got it. You like variety, but also the pleasure of tackling basic blocks of work. You listen well, are a fast note taker, and know how to summarize and write well.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about coordinating things, likes being on-the-go with a full schedule, enjoys interacting with people, and is absurdly proactive about work. Experience is important. You should consider yourself a pro, and be ready to dive in quickly – while this is an entry-level role, the learning curve is going to be fast and steep.

Oh, you also have a deep passion for helping people, organizations and communities transform and grow.

Examples of the Actual Work:

  • Prepare and organize materials for a host of client engagements – organizations like The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, Tuckahoe Montessori School, Better Housing Coalition, Sheltering Arms Institute, Washington Heritage Museums and the Virginia Society of CPA’s. You will support these engagements by creating and/or updating handouts, agendas or worksheets; creating flip chart displays; anticipating and packing the right supplies per engagement; and printing materials.

  • Take detailed notes at client meetings, transcribe notes and write and design meeting summaries and client reports. You will support the development of theme documents from interviews and other sources, and write and edit drafts of strategic planning and other final reports.

  • Coordinate and schedule one-on-one and focus group interviews for our consultants.

  • Manage client and project communications – between your Floricane teammates, and with the client organizations we’re supporting.

  • Attend Floricane’s skill development workshops to build your own self-awareness and professional development.

  • Check in with our key clients to ensure they’re satisfied with our work-to-date.

  • Be a part of the Floricane team where we meet monthly, engage in fun activities as a team and volunteer in our community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years of work experience

  • People like you. And you like people

  • You can manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • You are absolutely the best writer, and can quickly synthesize a lot of data and information into clear, readable summaries

  • (Did we mention organized and very detail-oriented?)

  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to anticipate problems and resolve them with minimum supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
