The Floricane Team is in search of a new addition! We're currently looking to hire a full-time Project Coordinator who knows how to schedule and coordinate; take in-the-moment notes and transform them into clearly written reports; and connect with clients from all walks of life. Starting salary for this position is $30,000 a year.

The deadline to apply is October 17, 2017. Instructions are posted below the job description.

Project Coordinator

Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (with exceptions for client meetings)

We’ve had a busy 2017, and we’re looking for someone who can help us keep our ducks, and our projects, in a row. (We don’t actually have any real ducks.) Your unofficial job title would be project coordinator. We’ll probably just call you by your first name.

You like to do things right the first time, and you learn to anticipate things before they happen – either because they happen a lot and you pay attention, or because you are a precog. When you say you’ll take care of something, we know you’ve got it. You like variety, but also the pleasure of tackling basic blocks of work. You listen well, are a fast note taker, and know how to summarize and write well

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about coordinating things, likes being on-the-go with a full schedule, enjoys interacting with people, and is absurdly proactive about work. Experience is important. You should consider yourself a pro, and be ready to dive in quickly – while this is a junior role, the learning curve is going to be fast and steep.

Examples of the Actual Work:

  • Organize materials for a host of client engagements – ranging from Smart Beginnings Shenandoah Valley, Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, project:HOMES, Virginia Agribusiness Council, Keiter, the Virginia Oral Health Coalition, VCU’s Department of Sociology, and James City County’s Department of Social Services

  • Take detailed notes at client meetings, and quickly generate detailed summary reports for our consultants and clients

  • Coordinate and schedule a slew of one-on-one interviews with project stakeholders for our consultants

  • Help our team think of nice ways to say thank you to clients as we concluded our projects with them

  • Update our active jobs board and CRM (customer relationship management system) so we all know what projects are in motion, and can stay in touch with our favorite people

  • Help our team brainstorm for our upcoming Strategic Management Conference in November -- and then coordinate invites, RSVPs, and a slew of logistics and minor details

  • Attend one of our workshops to build your own self-awareness and professional development

  • Work with a designer on visual displays for an upcoming strategic planning charette

  • Check in with our key clients to ensure they’re satisfied with our work-to-date

  • Support the rest of the Floricane team on other projects, including our monthly workshops and other public events

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years of work experience

  • People like you. And you like people

  • You can manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

  • You are absolutely the best writer, and can quickly synthesize a lot of data and information into clear, readable summaries

  • (Did we mention organized and very detail-oriented?)

  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to anticipate problems and resolve them with minimum supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
